After Protests, LG Invites DDC Members For Meeting On Mar 12

According to the news agency KNO, the protesting DDC members, who hit the streets for a second consecutive day in Jammu today, have been invited for a meeting with the LG scheduled on Friday.
The DDC members assembled outside Press Club Jammu today and held a protest on a second straight day to oppose the government order over their status and honorarium.
Irfan Panditpuri, DDC Chairperson from Kupwara said that they have received an invitation for a meeting with LG Manoj Sinha in Jammu. “The meeting is scheduled on March 12,” he said. ....

Disappointed Over Protocol, Honorarium, DDC Members Stage Protests
SRINAGAR: Cutting across the party lines, members of district development councils in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory on Tuesday staged protests against the government’s orders about their honorarium and protocol at Jammu where they all had gathered to attend a training programme organized by the Rural Development Department.
All elected DDC members from BJP, NC, PDP, Congress, PC and other parties staged protests outside the convention centre over their honorarium and protocol, saying it was a humiliation to them. They are refusing to attend the training programme.
“This is our insult and humiliation,” Shabir Ahmad Lone, DDC member from Rohama Rafiabad told news agency KNO. ....

Srinagar: The People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), a conglomerate of political parties seeking the restoration of Article 370, will control only eight district development councils (DDCs) in Jammu and Kashmir, despite the numbers favouring it in 12 districts.
However, the fact that the alliance managed to surpass the BJPâs tally is being seen as a victory against all odds. Some DDC members elected on the PAGD’s ticket were poached by rival parties and the UT administration also changed rules governing the elections, apparently to favour the BJP and its friendly parties. ....

SRINAGAR: The National Conference (NC) candidate in Rajouri was on Friday elected as District Development Council (DDC) Chairman while Congress candidate bagged Vice Chairman post.
According to the news agency KNO, Advocate Naseem Liaqat, who was PAGD candidate for Chairman won after getting eight out of fourteen votes while Shabir Khan of Congress won as Vice Chairman..
