When it’s time to place a call to Texas singer/songwriter/guitarist Dub Miller at the appointed interview time, a recording says that the number is unavailable. He quickly calls back about 30 seconds later, but wonders aloud if others calling him get the same message. “It could be Willie Nelson calling to record a duet and you’d miss it!” I offer. But it turns out, that’s not too crazy a thought. Miller recalls how he was booked for a show years ago by Pat Butler, whose husband songwriter/producer Larry Butler was a running buddy of Nelson’s back in day. He also produced massive hits for Kenny Rogers and co-wrote with Chips Moman the B.J. Thomas hit “(Hey Won’t You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song.” ....

The Cardinals erupted for six runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back in cruising to an 8-2 win over St. Scholastica in the first game of their non-conference doubleheader at U.S. Bank Stadium. Saint Mary’s put up another six-run first in the nightcap, but the Saints would rally, grabbing 9-8 lead heading into the sixth inning when the game was halted due to time limit. Justice Dallas Miller said Friday in Lethbridge Court of Queen’s Bench, that Gary James Lippa lured the vulnerable girl over a number of years until they finally agreed to meet at his Lethbridge home in August 2017. “Conversations led by the accused were detailed, specific, sexual, and luring, and were all designed to have this young and vulnerable complainant to share explicit photos and videos with her, and come to his residence on her summer holidays for the express purpose of sexual intercourse,” Miller said. ....
LETHBRIDGE Gary Lippa was sentenced to four years for sex crimes involving 13-year-old girl Friday. Justice Dallas Miller told the court the accused continues to show no remorse and continues to blame the victim. In February 2020, 40-year-old Lippa made a surprise guilty plea to sexual assault, luring a child under the age of 16 for sexual purposes and making child pornography. His 10-day jury trial had been scheduled to get underway when he changed his plea. The offences happened between January 2016 and February 2018. Lippa, who is 25 years older than the victim, was charged shortly after the final incident. It was the victim’s mother who initially went to police in 2017. A specialized prosecutor for the tech crime unit told CTV Lethbridge at the time, “this case was spearheaded by a vigilant parent, who saw some inappropriate messages on her daughter’s phone.” ....
