Care company in King s Lynn and Downham Market confirms it won t make vaccines compulsory

“No jab, no job” is one of the latest UK debates as care companies decide whether to make staff vaccines compulsory.
NorseCare, a Council owned care company that has homes in Lynn and Downham, have said that they will not enforce mandatory vaccines.
This comes after an announcement by private care company Barchester, that operates in neighbouring Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.

Barchester care has given it s staff until April 23 to get the jab, with some exemptions such as pregnant women, or they may face losing their job. ....

Zoom tea party brings families together for Mother s Day at West Norfolk care home

A West Norfolk residential home turned to technology to help bring residents and their families together for Mother s Day.
The coronavirus crisis has forced many aspects of our lives to go virtual because of the continuing restrictions.
And staff at the Downham Grange home organised a Zoom tea party for their residents on Sunday.

Activities co-ordinator Tracy Nicholls said: “The year of lockdowns has been very difficult for residents and their families.
“Fortunately, the vaccines have brought us light at the end of the tunnel. Although it will still be a few months before we are back to normal we wanted to make Mother’s Day as special as possible. ....

Youngsters across Norfolk and Waveney have helped to put beaming smiles on more than 1,600 care home residents faces in the run up to Christmas with their beautifully designed Christmas cards.

Concerns at Norfolk care homes over rapid testing plan


Burgh House, a residential care home outside Great Yarmouth, has also received a batch of the tests, some 900 in total, but manager Jospeh Greiner said he has no plans to start testing until the residents families have had their say.

He said: There are serious concerns around the accuracy of the test, so we re holding fire for the time being, until we get feedback from the families of residents.
He has written a letter to residents families, asking them to do their own research into the tests and consider whether or not they would like testing with the new kits to begin. ....
