Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor didn’t exactly live up to his promise to donate to Dustin Poirier‘s Good Fight Foundation, but he did donate $500,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of Acadiana in Lafayette, La. TMZ first reported the story.
“Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana received an unexpected call last week and are humbled to share that Conor McGregor is donating $500,000 to impact youth in South Louisiana by supporting our upcoming 2021 Summer Camp and ongoing health and recreation activities in our 6 Club sites,” the Boys and Girls Club posted on their Facebook page. ....

Conor McGregor Explains Why He Didn't Donate To Poirier's Charity


In the build-up to UFC 257, McGregor and Poirier kept things friendly.
So friendly, that ‘Notorious’ pledged $500,000 to Poirier’s charity.
‘The Diamond’ would go on to win the eagerly anticipated rematch. He wrestled with McGregor early before landing several nasty calf kicks. Poirier used his elite-level boxing skills in round two to become the first man to KO McGregor in MMA.
Post-fight, things seemed to remain friendly. Poirier’s wife even went into the locker room of McGregor to thank him for his generous donation that would help build a gym in Poirier’s hometown.
“I just wanted to say thank you so much,” Jolie Poirier said to McGregor post-fight at UFC 257. “Thank you for everything. This is going to help change a lot of people’s lives.” ....

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana got some help from two groups of friends Tuesday.
Both presentations took place at the Jackie Club on Marie Antoinette.
In the first presentation, Dustin Poirier s Good Fight Foundation presented a check for $100,000 to the clubs to be used for tutoring and transportation.
It s been a long journey to today, going back before the fight came together we started talking to the Boys and Girls Club, and heard about the Project Learn initiative, and decided it was a great thing for our foundation, the Good Fight Foundation, to be a part of. We try to bridge the gap and help out local charities, and needs we see in the community, Poirier says. ....
