The first league season under Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s tutelage came to a close on Tuesday, and the U18s ended it the same way it started, with a resounding victory.

Liverpool U18s completed their 2020-21 league season with a 3-0 win against Derby County at the Academy on Tuesday evening.
Kaide Gordon put the young Reds in front with 10 minutes on the clock, deftly moving into the area and waiting for the right moment to lift his finish into the net.
Melkamu Frauendorf then deflected Tommy Pilling’s effort beyond the Derby goalkeeper on the stroke of half-time to give the hosts a firm grip on the game.
And Frauendorf added his second four minutes after the restart to ensure a successful end to a campaign that will see Liverpool finish no lower than third in the U18 Premier League North. ....

A widow whose husband lost his life in the Covid pandemic has told ITV News he comes to see me in my dreams .
The pair enjoyed 25-years of marriage together before Tommy died on New Year s Day at the age of 62.
Remembering her husband, Ms Pilling said he used to squeeze you tight and said she often dreams about him, which brings a smile to her face. ....

Tributes to loved ones in south Essex who died from Covid


Of all the staggering statistics to come out of the coronavirus crisis, none is more shocking than the number of deaths.
More than 115,000 people have died after contracting Covid in the UK, well over the capacity of Wembley Stadium.
Up to February 5, there had been 3,664 coronavirus-related deaths registered in Essex.
Every one of these deaths represents a life tragically cut short too soon.
