James Madison moves into FCS Semifinals with 34-21 win over North Dakota

James Madison extended their home playoff winning streak to 11 straight following a 34-21 win over North Dakota in the Football Championship Subdivision quarterfinals on Sunday night.
JMU running back Percy Agyei-Obese rushed for 128 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Dukes (7-0 overall) will play at Sam Houston in the semifinals on Saturday.
Cole Johnson added 251 yards passing and 2 touchdowns for JMU.
Moorhead native Otis Weah rushed for 96 yards and 1 touchdown for UND, while Tommy Schuster passed for 213 yards and 2 interceptions.
The Fighting Hawks finish the spring season 5-2 overall.

Fighting Hawks fall short in first FCS quarterfinals appearance
 
HARRISONBURG, Va. (UND Athletics) – Top-ranked James Madison jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter and never relinquished it, defeating No. 7 North Dakota, 34-21, in the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs of Sunday evening from Bridgeforth Stadium in Harrisonburg, Va.
UND (6-2) trimmed the lead down to three late in the second quarter, but it was as close as the Fighting Hawks would get in their inaugural appearance in the quarterfinals.
James Madison (7-0) used a balanced attack in the win, amassing a season-high 468 yards of offense allowed by UND this season. Percy Agyei-Obese spearheaded a three-rush attack for the Dukes with 27 carries for 128 yards and two scores. ....

UND looking to snap JMU 16-game home winning streak in FCS quarterfinals


The University of North Dakota is going through a number of firsts in the FCS playoffs.
The Fighting Hawks won their first FCS postseason game in program history with a 44-10 drubbing over Missouri Valley Football Conference foe Missouri State.
UND (5-1 overall) is set to play their first-ever meeting against James Madison University on Sunday, which will be the Fighting Hawk’s first game outside of the MVFC this spring.
JMU (6-0 overall) is the No. 3 seed and possesses a good offensive line.
“Very mobile and physical on the offensive line. I’m really impressed by that group, work well together they have a lot of seniors on the team so this is an experienced group in the trenches,” said UND head coach Bubba Schweigert. ....

The Missouri State Bears lost to North Dakota 44-10 in the opening round of the FCS football playoffs.

A fast start by North Dakota proved too much for visiting Missouri State to overcome Saturday as the Fighting Hawks scored on their first four possessions of the game and cruised to a 44-10 win over the Bears in the first round of the NCAA FCS playoffs.
Making their first NCAA appearance since 1990, Missouri State fell behind 27-3 at the intermission, but did not allow an offensive touchdown in the second half until the 2:17 mark of the fourth quarter with the game already in hand. The Fighting Hawks added a pair of unconventional scores on a blocked punt and an interception return in the third that put things out of reach. ....
