bchristensen@ironmountaindailynews.com QUINNESEC — The Breitung Township Board agreed Monday to give Quinnesec and East Kingsford residents who have not paid their water bill up to 30 days from their next statement to pay the balance or set up a payment plan. A statewide moratorium on water shutoffs due to nonpayment expired March 31. Quinnesec and East Kingsford residents who are delinquent in payment will receive a notice with their next water bill. After 30 days, penalties would apply to the balance and residents may face shutoff. About125 of 1,000 accounts are past due, Breitung Township Superintendent Steve Mulka said. In other business, the board bought a 2-by-4-inch advertisement in the Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce’s tabloid for $172.80. A quarter of the revenue goes back to the chamber for its 2021 advertising fund.
