BRETT Pitman’s early goal was the difference as Swindon Town beat Wigan Athletic 1-0 despite going down to 10 men midway through the second half. Following Pitman’s 17th-minute close-range header, Town looked pretty comfortable against their relegation rivals, even after Dion Conroy’s second-half red card for bringing down Will Keane as last man. The three points briefly took Town out of the relegation zone while also re-setting an unwanted record on Tuesday nights. Victory over Wigan was the first time Town had won a league game on a Tuesday night since beating Scunthorpe United 2-0 in March 2020. Kieron Freeman: 5 Freeman sent in a few dangerous crosses in the second half. But his lack of pace threatened to cause Town a few problems though as Malik Wilks latched onto the 28-year-old. Sheridan can only hope he sharpens up with more game time. Conor Masterson: 6 The QPR loanee looked a little nervous when asked to make a decision on the ball, but his positioning was quite good. SWINDON Town lost 1-0 to League One leaders Hull City on Saturday after an early Greg Docherty goal settled matters at the KCOM Stadium. Docherty struck in the fifth minute to give Grant McCann’s side a lead which they never really looked like relinquishing to a Town side that has failed to win in any of their previous four games now. Hull enjoyed the majority of the chances on home soil, and perhaps should have made life more comfortable for themselves. However, the Tigers held on to hoist themselves to the summit of the table and leave Town two points off safety in 22nd. ....
