First Citizens Police Review Board meeting held since CPD officer-involved shooting


The past couple of weeks have been filled with tragedy and unpredictable events throughout the city.
Multiple items are included on the agenda for Wednesday s meeting. The board plans to discuss the community oriented policing program, an update on the vehicle stops committee and diversity in the Columbia Police Department and the department s recruiting efforts.
The board will also give an update on the response time data and CPD guidelines for response times. Early intervention system dates, policies, and procedures will also be discussed.

Missouri PSC will not order a moratorium on utility shut-offs

There will be no state-ordered moratorium on utility shut-offs this winter, the Missouri Public Service Commission decided Wednesday in a unanimous vote.
The five-member commission rejected a call from the Consumers Council of Missouri for a moratorium through March 31 and staff analysis that it had the legal authority to issue a moratorium order.
Chairman Ryan Silvey, during discussion of the request, said he struggled with the decision because many people who have never experienced economic hardship in the past have been out of work for months because of the pandemic. That means people who were already in difficulty have also been hit by loss of income, he said. ....
