The owners of the Berlin D2 pub are to appeal a decision by a District Court judge not to renew its licence.
In the meantime, the pub will be able to continue operating, according to informed sources.
The appeal, to the Circuit Court, could be heard as early as next month. Attempts to secure a comment from the operators of the bar were unsuccessful.
Footage of customers and staff of the Dublin venue flouting the public health guidelines in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic caused a major controversy in August last. ....

A JUDGE HAS held that there was “no alternative” but to refuse to grant the Berlin D2 bar the renewal of its operating licences due to a “boozy brunch” that went viral on social media.
Footage of punters and staff flouting Covid-19 regulations guidelines went viral online after the event on 14 August last.
The event, advertised as a “Very Boozy Baked Brunch With Your Buds”, took place in the popular bar restaurant on Dame Lane in Dublin city-centre. ....

Berlin D2 bar 'sorry' for Covid-19 guideline breaches at brunch event

Management of Dublinâs Berlin D2 bar have apologised in court for breaking Covid-19 social distancing guidelines during a âboozy brunchâ event last year.
A video was shared on social media of the August 15th event at the Dame Street venue showing a staff member on a bar pouring shots into dancing customersâ mouths.
GardaÃ obtained CCTV footage of the event and lodged licence objections at Dublin District Court. Judge Marie Quirke has now examined the evidence and the bar, operated by Trillium Leisure Ltd, is contesting the application.
The hearing resumed on Wednesday with barrister Dorothy Collins, for the venue, telling the court that businessman Jay Bourke was no longer involved in running the bar. ....
