DALLAS, June 1, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Comerica Bank s Texas Economic Activity Index increased in March to 115.3. March s index reading was 16 percent above the recent low of 99.3 set in June 2020. The index averaged 112.1 points for all of 2020, 13.5 points below the average for 2019. February s index reading was revised to 114.2.
Our Texas Economic Activity Index increased by 1.0 percent in March, as the state economy pulled out of the February freeze-out. Eight out of nine sub-indexes were positive for the month, including nonfarm employment, unemployment insurance claims (inverted), housing starts, house prices, drilling rig count, total state trade, hotel occupancy and state sales tax revenue. Only the industrial electricity demand sub-index contracted for the month. We expect Texas to be a leading state economy pushing the overall U.S. economy to strong growth this ....

DALLAS, April 28, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Comerica Bank s Texas Economic Activity Index decreased in February to 114.1. February s index reading was 15 percent above the recent low of 99.5 set in June 2020. The index averaged 112.1 points for all of 2020, 13.5 points below the average for 2019. January s index reading was 114.6.
This month we are rolling out our new methodology for our state economic activity indexes. We have made some adjustments to the sub-components and to their weights in order to better align with state-level GDP. Also, we have rebased the sub-components of our indexes to average 100 for 2012. Our Texas Economic Activity Index declined in February as the state was caught in the grip of a once-in-a-lifetime winter freeze. DALLAS, Feb. 24, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Comerica Bank s Texas Economic Activity Index increased in December to 126.7. December s index reading was 18 percent above the recent low of 107.4 set in June 2020. The index averaged 124.3 points for all of 2020, 15.4 points below the average for 2019. November s index reading was 123.8.
Our Texas Economic Activity Index improved for the sixth consecutive month in December, showing the strongest monthly gain since last August. Eight out of nine sub-indexes increased in December. They were nonfarm payroll, unemployment insurance claims, housing starts, house prices, industrial electricity demand, drilling rig count, total state trade and state sales tax revenues.
