Feds: 'Detroit Will Breathe' medic Michael Hurd blinded flight crew

Detroit Federal prosecutors Friday charged a street medic who participated in Detroit Will Breathe” protests last year with shining a laser at a Detroit Police helicopter that temporarily blinded the crew.
Michael Sam Hurd, 32, of Fennville was charged with a felony punishable by up to five years in federal prison in one of the more serious charges to flow from protests in Detroit.

Detroit Police and an FBI Violent Crime Task Force teamed up to analyze a potentially catastrophic moment during an Aug. 23 protest, assembling grainy video and surveillance footage from the air, ground, an officer s body camera and a city bus to identify Hurd as the protestor who blinded the flight crew, according to a federal criminal complaint unsealed Friday. ....

MoGo bike share nonprofit names new executive director

Two new positions will focus on improving connections between bike share and bus service

Bike-share nonprofit MoGo has named its director of marketing and community outreach, Adriel Thornton, as its new executive director.
Thornton has led marketing and community outreach efforts for MoGo since its launch in 2017.
Before that, he served as the outreach and operations manager at Allied Media Projects, and manager of corporate marketing for American Entertainment Technology and founded Fresh Media Group.
In related moves, MoGo named marketing assistant Jeremy Rosenberg to succeed Thornton as marketing and community outreach director and said it will add two new positions in the coming weeks with support from the Better Bike Share Partnership, a collaboration funded by The JPB Foundation in New York to build equitable and replicable bike share systems. ....
