Special Olympics Flame of Hope torch to be carried through Clarksville this weekend

CLARKSVILLE, TN – This year, Special Olympics Tennessee is completing a statewide Law Enforcement Torch Run carrying the Flame of Hope across the state. Their goal is to have the entire state completed by end of July 2021.
Retired Chief Joe Casey, Metro Nashville Police Department, has been a longtime supporter of Special Olympics and instrumental in bringing the Law Enforcement Torch Run into a global movement. To honor his commitment, they are hosting a Statewide Law Enforcement Torch Run in 2021. They are running the Flame of Hope across Tennessee with a goal of completing the entire state by the end of July. ....

Ober Gatlinburg President Bruce Anders Passes Away

Mr. Anders served as president of the family-owned and operated business since 2009.
Mr. Anders first began his career at Ober Gatlinburg, Inc. on Sept. 16, 1992 and worked in many capacities during his 29-year tenure. He was elected the third president of Ober Gatlinburg, Inc. on April 1, 2009 following in the footsteps of brother, Cy, and father, Claude Anders, company founder.
Mr. Anders’ hands-on style of management had him involved in every aspect of day to day operations. It also gave him a deep appreciation for the employees.
Mr. Anders served as vice president of the Southeast Ski Areas Association. He was an avid supporter of the Boys & Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains and an advocate for Tennessee Special Olympics, which holds their winter games at Ober Gatlinburg each year. ....
