Two Local Men Sentenced For Pawn Shop Robbery

Two Columbus men have been sentenced for the armed robbery of a local pawn shop in March.  
Prosecutors say 19-year old De onte Peoples and 23-year-0ld Demetrius Braxton stole 27 hundred dollars worth of goods and assaulted a customer  at the shop on Morse Road in Blendon Township.  Peoples and Braxton were sentenced to 76 and 74 months respectively.

Peoples was one of three men who robbed Morse Road pawn shop in March


A Northeast Side man who participated in the armed robbery of a Morse Road pawn shop last year was sentenced Wednesday to more than six years in prison.
Deonte Peoples, 19, earlier admitted that he “came up with the idea to commit this robbery” when he pleaded guilty in federal court in Columbus to felony counts of interference with commerce by robbery and using, carrying and brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.
U.S. District Judge Edmund A. Sargus Jr. said before imposing the 76-month sentence that the robbery was a “serious, violent crime” involving firearms that had lasting effects on the traumatized employees involved. ....

Faith leaders angry, encourage prayer after Casey Goodson's death


Faith leaders in Columbus are angry.
They say they fear for the moral conscience of the city and Franklin County after county Sheriff s deputy Jason Meade fatally shot Casey Goodson Jr., a 23-year-old Black man, on Dec. 4 and after years of other examples of what they see as law enforcement s racist behavior.
A group of those leaders have come together to question law enforcement actions, encourage prayer and take action against what they say are problems of racism, inequality and a lack of accountability.
People are not constantly going to watch their loved ones be killed and say nothing, said Bishop Timothy Clarke, senior pastor at First Church of God on the Southeast Side. This has to stop. ....
