A WOMAN left another shaken and scared after she climbed on to her balcony to get into a neighbouring apartment after being locked out, a court heard. Rosemarie White (34) said she was only crossing over the victim s balcony to get into her cousin s apartment and had meant no harm. Judge Dermot Dempsey imposed a two-month sentence suspended for two years and ordered White to have no contact with the injured party. White, of Dundaniel Road, Coolock, was found guilty of trespass at Boroimhe Blackthorn, Swords, last June 5. The victim told Swords District Court the accused had knocked on her door. ....
A teenager who concealed a Stanley knife in the waistband of his trousers claimed it was for his own protection as lads were after him , a court has heard. Owen Maughan (19) has been warned he is facing custody for the offence if he does not comply with the Probation Services which will see if he is suitable for 240 hours community service work in lieu of two months in prison. The defendant, of Dun Saithne Avenue in Balbriggan pleaded guilty to being in possession of the knife at Hamlet Lane in Balbriggan on August 29. He has 14 previous convictions including one for violent disorder and the production of an article during the course of a dispute, Balbriggan District Court heard. ....

A plumber who was thrown out of a bar after a funeral drunkenly told gardaí they had no right to tell him to go home, a court heard. Aidan Whelan (25) thought he was sticking up for himself when he told officers he would be returning to the pub. Judge Dermot Dempsey ordered Whelan to donate €300 to charity and pay €150 compensation to gardaí and struck out the charges, leaving him without a conviction. The defendant, of Castlegrange Avenue, Swords, admitted public drunkenness, threatening and abusive behaviour and failing to follow garda directions last January 31. Garda Philip Walsh told Swords District Court that officers went to the scene following reports that a man had been thrown out of a pub on Brackenstown Road, Swords. ....
A MAN who breached his position of trust in a bank stole €7,000 from his grandfather’s bank account as a result of drug use has avoided a prison sentence after he was deemed suitable for community service work. Darren Andrews (28) also substituted real bank notes with fake notes and stole money from another customer’s account in what a judge called a “despicable act.” He stole a total of €8,420 from the two bank accounts while he was employed by Permanent TSB. The thefts occurred on dates from January 3, 2017 to April 24, 2017 and only came to light when a staff member noticed the discrepancies and the fake notes, Balbriggan District Court heard. ....
