AUSTIN, Texas – Oregon saw its 2021 season come to an end at the NCAA Austin Regional after a whirlwind day that saw the Ducks walk-off to force a deciding game before falling in game two.
The Ducks first endured a five-hour rain delay prior to the start of game one, then proceeded to walk-off in extra innings for a 3-2 win after giving up a lead in the seventh inning. Oregon ultimately fell in the winner-take-all second game, 1-0, in a contest that went into the early morning in Austin. I m so proud of this team, said head coach Melyssa Lombardi. Just to watch them transform from the beginning of the year to now, I can t say enough. My heart hurts because they were right there, and I want them to get what they want, but we just fell short.

AUSTIN, Texas Oregon softball s season came to an end after falling to Texas in NCAA softball regional, 1-0.
Maddie Hopper grounded out with two runners in scoring position in the 7th inning to end the game.
The Ducks couldn t get much going offensively despite Samaria Diaz allowing just one run in 3.2 innings in the start.
Oregon had five hits as a team and left five runners on base.
Bunker, Cruse and Yanez are all first-team honorees, Alyssa Brito and Terra McGowan are second-team selections and Hanna Delgado is a third-team selection
Jessie Harper hit a historic two-run homer and
Alyssa Denham threw a six-hit shutout as No. 7 Arizona blanked No. 12 Oregon 2-0 on Sunday in Eugene to salvage a four-game split.
The Wildcats won the final two games of the series after dropping the first two in disheartening fashion. They now enter the final week of the regular season in a much more reasonable spot, likely needing a couple wins against No. 2 UCLA to secure a coveted top-8 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
“We were grinding and pressing a little bit,” head coach
Mike Candrea said on the Pac-12 Network. “It felt like we had a hole in our bat, but they hang in there. That’s one thing about this group they keep plugging away and keep trying to make adjustments and every day is a new day.”

It was almost a tough start to an important series for Oregon softball against Arizona following a near perfect game by opposing pitcher Hanah Bowen, but in the bottom of the 7th inning a heroic home run by Terra McGowan gave the Ducks a shocking 2-1 victory over the Wildcats. It was a pitcher’s duel the whole way as Brooke Yanez went toe to toe with Bowen until the 6th inning when she gave up a home run to Redshirt-Junior Hannah Martinez. Besides Arizona’s one big hit Yanez was dominant throughout the rest of the ballgame. She totaled 8 strikeouts and only allowed 2 hits and a walk. It would have been a tough luck loss for Yanez as she did more than enough to keep her team in the game even though she did allow a home run to Arizona’s nine-hole hitter.
