Across Canada, there’s a focus on, and investment in, energy efficient activities. Here’s what’s been in the headlines lately: 
Quebec electric vehicle company gets $185 million for battery plant
A Montreal-based company is building a lithium-ion battery assembly plant thanks to $185 million from the federal and provincial governments. The projecxt is expected to add about 135 jobs and produce 14,000 batteries a year once complete (currently estimated for 2023). 
The company, Lion Electric, already has its name on zero-emission transit buses a vehicle the federal government has committed to purchasing 5,000 of during the next five years. There are already about 300 Lion vehicles on the road.  ....

Whitehorse Daily Star: More potential NDP candidates emerge


The Yukon New Democratic Party has been busy fielding candidates for the upcoming territorial election, widely expected to be called this spring.
The party says it has nearly 20 candidates waiting in the wings to be nominated – but most of those haven’t yet been publicly named.
Party leader Kate White says she’s eagerly waiting to unveil those candidates, which should occur in the next few weeks.
“I’m really excited,” she said.
Two of the named candidates, Dave Weir in Haines Junction and Michelle Friesen, have been interviewed by the Star.
“I really didn’t have much choice about deciding to run,” said Weir. “There are changes that need to be made, and the privileged few are in charge. It’s a big social divide I want to be able to speak up and be involved.” ....
