COVID-19: Orange East Supervisory Union goes remote after holiday break

BRADFORD, Vt. The Orange East Supervisory Union is slated to pivot to remote learning Jan. 4-8 to allow for quarantine after the December holidays, according to the superintendent.
Superintendent Emilie B. Knisley said in a Wednesday message posted to Listservs that she made the decision after surveying more than 1,100 members of the OESU community, which includes schools in the Vermont towns of Bradford, Newbury, Thetford and East Corinth.
Roughly 40% of those surveyed indicated that they plan to travel or participate in multi-household gatherings that require quarantine, she said. Knisley also considered similar decisions by surrounding school districts to move to remote learning following the December vacation, which affect OESU operations, she said. ....

COVID-19: Hanover Terrace loses second resident; Dartmouth kicked 86 students off campus in fall

HANOVER A second resident at Hanover Terrace died on Thursday morning after contracting COVID-19, according to the Lyme Road nursing home’s temporary administrator.
COVID-19 was not the resident’s primary cause of death, however, said Martha Ilsley, the temporary administrator, in a Thursday email.
The outbreak held steady at a total of 96 people. The total includes 68 resident infections, including the two people who have died and another resident who was discharged after testing positive. In addition, 26 workers and two essential workers employed by an outside vendor have tested positive. ....

COVID-19: Hanover Terrace outbreak sees first fatality as infection rate tops 90%

HANOVER A Hanover Terrace resident who had tested positive for COVID-19 died Tuesday evening, according to the nursing home’s temporary administrator.
The outbreak at the Lyme Road facility grew to include a total of 96 people on Wednesday, adding six more cases including two residents and four workers, said Martha Ilsley, the administrator, in an email.
The outbreak now includes a total of 68 residents, 26 workers and two essential workers employed by an outside vendor.
Due to the death and another resident being discharged earlier this week after testing positive, the total number of current residents infected as of Wednesday was 66, more than 90% of the 72 residents residing there. ....
