Purchase expected to close in August

An 80-year-old Wyoming tire company will be purchased by a newcomer to the state that had opened its first tire center in 2019.
Les Schwab Tire Centers announced Monday its intent to purchase Pains Tire Company for an undisclosed sum. The sale is anticipated to close in August and encompasses the nine stores Plains Tire operates in the state, including two locations in Green River and Rock Springs.
Plains Tire has operated in Wyoming since 1941. The Plains Tire owner Larry Nicholls said the Oregon-based Les Schwab is the right buyer at the time rime.

NHS Tayside’s claim to have tackled a long-term culture of bullying in mental health services has been branded unrealistic by an independent review.
The health board was heavily criticised for its organisational culture in a February 2020 report with the authors stating this had led to patients being repeatedly let down.
Not credible or realistic
Despite the cultural reboot being identified as a long-term but key recommendation in the Independent Inquiry into Mental Health Services, NHS Tayside said it had been delivered in just 13 months.
An 18-month review led by the head of the inquiry, Dr David Strang, has now branded this extremely unlikely.
Returning, new events bring thousands to Colusa [Appeal-Democrat, Marysville, Calif.]
Jul. 8 Hundreds of yellow rubber duckies made their annual trip down the Sacramento River on the Fourth of July as part of the fourth annual Jim Davison Memorial Rubber Duckie Race.
The event, which is facilitated by the Colusa Lions Club, has been a Independence Day tradition in Colusa for more than 20 years, according to Jim Pingrey, Colusa Lions Club president.
The club, however, decided to rename the event in 2018 to honor the event’s co-founder, Jim Davison, who passed away in 2017.
Each year, community members have the opportunity to purchase $5 race tickets, each with a number that corresponds to one of the 1,500 numbered duckies that get thrown into the river as the clock strikes 2 p.m. on July 4.
