Taipei, Feb. 8 (CNA) All six of Taiwan s FormoSat-7 space project satellites, which were launched to improve weather forecasting, have reached their mission orbits, the Ministry of Science and Technology said in a statement on Monday.
The satellites, launched by SpaceX into a 720-kilometer circular orbit in June 2019, have been gradually moved into their designated mission orbits of 540-550km over the past 18 months and the process was completed on Feb. 3, according to the statement.
The project is a joint operation between Taiwan s National Space Organization and the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to improve weather data collection in the tropics, the ministry said. ....

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) Two of Taiwan s domestically made mini-satellites will be launched into space from Florida on Jan. 21, according to Science and Technology Minister Wu Tsung-tsong (吳政忠).
During a press conference on Wednesday (Jan. 13), Wu pointed out that the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) has been exploring innovations for the last eight months. He said researchers from Taiwan s National Space Organization (NSPO) were able to develop three mini-satellites, also known as CubeSats (立方衛星), to carry out space tasks such as ionospheric observations. ....

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) Taiwan is joining hands with Japan to develop a mini satellite as a validation platform for optical sensor technologies, with the launch slated for mid-2022.
Dubbed the 6U Fast Validation CubeSat (6U快速飛試立方衛星), the satellite will measure 36.6 centimeters long, 22.6 cm wide, and 10 cm deep. The University of Tokyo s Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics will design it, fitting it with optical remote sensors and mechanical systems developed by Taiwan’s National Space Organization (NSPO), reported CNA.
Not only will the device test the optical technologies but it will also carry out a range of tasks, from capturing images of the Earth to disaster monitoring. The optical sensor technologies are the core of the third phase of Taiwan’s intel ....
