NOTRE DAME, Indiana The No. 21/RV Notre Dame Swim and Dive team will host the annual Shamrock Invitational January 21-23, with the men facing Missouri State and the women facing No. 25 Akron.
Notre Dame’s final home meet of the season serves as a multi-day competition to lead into championship competition at the conference and national levels. It also marks the anniversary of the 1992 bus accident that injured multiple people and killed two Notre Dame women’s swimmers, Meghan Beeler and Colleen Hipp. Additionally, the Shamrock Invitational will include ceremonies to recognize the 11 Irish senior student-athletes on their Senior Days. ....

Court filing seeks to save Mich St women's swimming/diving

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) Members of Michigan State’s women’s swimming and diving team are seeking an injunction to prevent the school from dropping the program.
Attorney Jill Zwagerman said a request for preliminary injunction was filed Friday. The motion filed in U.S. District Court in Michigan names Michigan State, the school’s Board of Trustees, MSU President Samuel Stanley Jr. and athletic director Bill Beekman as defendants. The filing seeks to restrain the school from eliminating the women’s varsity swimming and diving team or any other women’s teams or athletic participation opportunities.

Summer is heating up with Whanganui bathed in near perfect weather over the weekend.
Many made the most of it by heading to Whanganui East to cool off. The Whanganui East Pool opened for the summer on Saturday, with more than 100 people going through over the weekend.
MetService forecaster Aidan Pyselman said Whanganui peaked at 21C on both Saturday and Sunday, with a slight westerly keeping that temperature from getting any higher. ....
