How times flies! It seems as if it was only a few days ago that William “Peter” McKinney was sitting in the courthouse break room, telling me about the previous 10 years of his serving the Attalla Overcoming Holy Church of God as its pastor the church of which he had been a member since he was 11 years old. McKinney told of his family attending the “big” church next door, but that he was pulled to this church by its music and preaching, “so loud it could be heard a mile away.” He began attending services there and has never left, although there was a time during a disturbance when the church closed for a while for a while, leaving him as its only member. Church historian Donald Morgan (McKinney’s grandson) has written that a new preacher came to pastor and the church once again began to flourish. Later, Elder Mary Washington, a woman known as a mighty prayer warrior, became pastor and the church grew even more and “Peter” McKinney ....

Donald Morgan, pastor of Haydenville Congregational Church, said he watched bits and pieces of the trial of Derek Chauvin, the Minneapolis police officer convicted of killing George Floyd last May. “Of course I tuned in to the verdict,” Morgan said, standing at the front of the Unitarian Society of Northampton and Florence church on Thursday afternoon. “Since that time I have celebrated, and I have rejoiced,” he said. “But I was only able to celebrate after telling myself and assuring myself that although we celebrate and there’s nothing wrong with celebration that we have to remember that that victory, that that justice, that that accountability does not erase or eradicate all the injustices and unaccountabilities that have taken place in this nation over the years.” ....
Charles Schwab Tries, Probably Fails To Make Citi Feel Better About That Whole Accidentally Sending People Too Much Money Thing Misery loves company, but is Schwab really all that miserable? Author: Misery loves company, but is Schwab really all that miserable? Citigroup is no doubt still smarting about the whole accidentally-sending-$900-million-to-the-hedge-funds-who-were-already-fighting-us-over-that-$900-million-and-being-unable-to-get-it-back thing. Understandably so. But, look, guys, everyone makes mistakes, as Charles Schwab has very kindly decided to demonstrate, albeit in a couple-of-orders-of-magnitude-smaller sort of way. It was the type of windfall that investors pine for with every rally on Wall Street: $1,205,619.56 had inexplicably ended up in the brokerage account of a 911 dispatcher in Louisiana in February…. Charles Schwab said that it was supposed to have moved only $82.56 into Ms. Spadoni’s Fidelity Brokerage Services account, but that a ....
