Japan Begins Mass Vaccination As Olympics Near
2 state run vaccination centers open in Tokyo, Osaka provinces with a target of 15,000 jabs everyday.
Japan on Monday launched a mass vaccination campaign in at least two provinces as Olympics and Paralympics games near.
Two state-run COVID-19 vaccination centers were opened in capital Tokyo and Osaka province in a bid to accelerate an inoculation program that has lagged far behind other developed countries with just two months remaining before staging the Olympics , Tokyo-based Kyodo News reported.
The government will continue to make all-out efforts so that as many people as possible can be inoculated as quickly as possible, Katsunobu Kato, Chief Cabinet Secretary, told a news conference today. ....

Japan Approves Moderna, Astrazeneca Vaccine
4% of Japan’s 126 million population has received at least single dose of Pfizer vaccine so far.
Japan on Friday granted approval for market roll over to two more COVID-19 vaccines Moderna Inc. and AstraZeneca.
The move is expected to boost the vaccination drive by the Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga-led government.
AstraZeneca and Moderna had applied for government approval in February and March, respectively.
Japan s Health Ministry approved the vaccines both for people aged 18 or older, with two doses to be taken several weeks apart, Tokyo-based Kyodo News reported.
With an ageing population, Japan began its vaccination campaign last February after approving use of the Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine. ....
