GANGS of children roaming the streets of Abbeyfeale, frightening elderly people and “tormenting” shop owners needs to be tackled, said Cllr Liam Galvin.
“I don’t expect gardai to be running home with a child on the side of the street. I’m not asking for that. What I am asking for is parents to be held accountable for children under 16 years of age,” said Cllr Liam Galvin at a Newcastle West Joint Police Committee meeting.
Cllr Galvin read out a motion calling on the Minister for Justice to enact legislation to put the onus on parents of children under 16 who are gathering / loitering and engaging in antisocial behaviour to be responsible for their children. ....

Spectrum raises starting wages, hiring 50 in Zanesville

ZANESVILLE - The Zanesville Call Center for Spectrum is raising its minimum starting wage and is looking to fill 50 positions.
The starting wage is $18 an hour, and wages included target commissions, in addition to comprehensive company-paid benefits, including medical, life and disability, education and training and a retirement plan.
Charter Communications, the parent company of Spectrum, established a $15 starting wage in 2018 and announced in April that it would permanently raise its minimum starting wage to $20 an hour in 2022. That would feature annual increases of $1.50 an hour in 2020 and 2021, boosting the starting hourly wage to $16.50 and then $18, respectively. ....
