KEYNOTES: Library offers limited indoor browsing Rosemary Rimkus After more than a year of COVID-caused imperatives, the staff of the Hudson Public Library is welcoming limited patrons back to its stacks. Head librarian Aileen Sanchez-Himes said capacity of 12 patrons may visit for 20 minutes for general library business, or 30-minute access to the library computers, after they have contacted the library or registered online. Glass partitions are being installed at the service and reference desks. With the recent closing of the children’s room due to steam pipe breakage, many of the children’s books and services have moved upstairs to the main library, according to children’s librarian Jillian Bennett. “Every one of the children’s room team has done a really incredible job bringing library services to families during this time,” said Bennett, “and I look forward to having patrons back here as soon as possible.” ....

Congratulations to Tom Rouse, of Auckland, who snapped the winning photo in the first section of the Bayleys ‘This is Us’ photo and video competition. Chief judge Peter Young says Tom’s photo of a sunset surfer at Te Arai captured a beautiful moment in time – a stunning evening on one of the region’s best surfing beaches. “It has great energy, a fresh perspective and is well composed,” Peter says. Coming a close second was Warkworth’s Kayla Hunia, with her entry taken at Takatu Point, on the Tàwharanui Peninsula. ....

Prema Behan, General Manager of Three Sticks Wines and Head High Wines remains as President of the board of directors for a third and final year. Tom Rouse of Landmark Vineyards will be serving as Vice-President, former Vice President Erich Bradley of Pangloss Cellars and Repris has been elected as Secretary, and Steven Sangiacomo of Sangiacomo Family Vineyards and Anne Moller-Racke of Blue Farm Wines and Stone Edge Farm Estate Vineyards & Winery have been appointed as Co-Treasurers. ....
