CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Jill Reed has lived near Mustang Beach Airport in Port Aransas for 15 years and said she was afraid when she heard about the plane crash.
“I was so afraid that it was one of my friends that it was one of their planes…but obviously it wasn’t as I would’ve heard from them,” Reed said.
Reed said it’s shocking hearing about those in the crash and that the crash was loud.
“There was no smoke. That’s for sure…. when I saw the fire engines and what not…that there was going to be a fire over here…but there was no fire,” Reed said. ....

Nueces County pivots from large COVID-19 vaccine sites as supply grows
Nueces County will soon pivot from large COVID-19 vaccination hubs to smaller sites as supply of the shots continues to grow.
One of those smaller sites is a new clinic at La Palmera, across from Grimaldi’s, which launched last Tuesday and is open during mall hours  10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
In the clinic’s first week, more than 4,000 people have been vaccinated, public health director Annette Rodriguez told the Caller-Times.
County commissioners on Tuesday approved a 30-day, $10,000 lease with La Palmera during their meeting Tuesday. County Judge Barbara Canales said the county will decide whether to stay at the site longer. ....

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas Monday marks the five year anniversary of the day that a set of conjoined twin girls named Ximena and Scarlett Torres of Brownsville were surgically separated at Driscoll Children s Hospital. It was as you may remember, a history making surgery.
We are happy to report the girls are doing just fine, and are full of energy, laughter, and smiles.
The girls were joined at the pelvis. Their surgery came 11 months after their birth. They were actually born as a set of triplets. Their sister is also said to be doing fine. ....
