Three Montgomery County water projects have been awarded low-interest state loans totaling about $2 million.
Infrastructure in Centerville, Trotwood and Washington Twp. are among 10 projects named as loan recipients by the Ohio Water Development Authority.
The authority’s allocations are part of $8.1 million given out through loans and grants to improve water systems in the state, it was announced Tuesday.
For April, the county projects receiving funding from OWDA’s fresh water loan program include: ....

A dog that was rescued after being stuck on the banks of a creek in Trotwood, Ohio, has found her forever home.The dog, later named Jane, was found a few weeks ago by two animal care and control officers with the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center who were responding to a call about a dog stuck in the bank of Wolf Creek.The dog was found chained to a tree, but the closest bank was too steep to allow access, and recent rainfall had caused the water levels to rise, making it unsafe to cross the creek and rescue her. The long-awaited K-12 school funding overhaul approved in the Ohio House’s budget bill last week is being questioned in the Senate Education Committee, and is likely to see changes there.

More than half of the Dayton area’s public school districts will be in contract negotiations with their employee unions this spring, affecting school budgets, plus pay and working conditions for staff.
While COVID-related issues like online teaching and safety protocols have dominated the past year in schools, those issues seem to be less central to contract talks.
Kettering City Schools and the Miami Valley Career Technology Center are among the very few who have already ratified new contract agreements this spring. Superintendent Nick Weldy said there were no changes tied to COVID issues in MVCTC’s new three-year contract, adding that after a “crazy year,” people wanted to keep negotiations simple. ....
