school captain Bodie Torr said he felt honoured to be picked for the position and hoped to have a future career either in a trade or in the fitness industry.
I would like to get everyone involved in the school culture and increase events, as since COVID happened it s sort of decreased, Mr Torr said.
School captain Zali Williams is excited to be a voice for the students of Gympie High and encouraged more participation and involvement in school events.

Family reeling after Gympie teacher's shock cancer diagnosis

Family and friends of Dave are reeling in the wake of the shock diagnosis, which was set in motion when he realised he had lost considerable weight on a recent skydiving trip.
He mentioned the weight loss to his doctor when getting checked out for a shoulder injury he had suffered at work, and went through a number of tests as a result.
Dr Andrew Spall at Rainbow Beach General Practice eventually gave Dave the bad news.
He had a sizeable tumour on his kidneys, which had metastasised and spread to his lungs. ....

In my personal opinion, Tin Can Bay has been the best fit for my son and his grades have improved consistently since he started there.
In saying that, I also offer an unbiased opinion when looking at the school at a whole. I do not believe it is anything the school has done wrong. Tin Can Bay, Cooloola Cove and Rainbow Beach have traditionally been low socio economic areas, with lack of access to basic services, including good medical facilities and more.
Bullying has been a problem for the school, but no more than other schools my son has attended, the problem is, due to the small population of our region, it‘s sometimes hard for the kids to avoid their bullies outside of school hours. For example, there are only two parks in Cooloola Cove. ....

About a quarter of all Queensland public schools will be visited by reviewers – many of whom are former and current school principals – of the Department of Education’s Education Improvement Branch in 2021.
