DADE CITY — Twice in the last few weeks, Pasco County’s Planning Commission heard details on controversial land use changes and recommended that the County Commission deny those applications.
But this week, when the cases came up for a final decision, the County Commission voted unanimous approval. In each case, the turnaround was a flurry of negotiations between the applicants and their opponents prior to Tuesday’s commission meeting.
One case involved the Central Pasco Employment Village, a sprawling 2,400 acre swath of land running south of State Road 52 from the Collier Parkway Extension to Bellamy Brothers Boulevard. ....

He’s The Senior Director Of Construction.  Maine Veteran Christy Gardner to Receive Mortgage-Free Smart Home from Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Tunnel to Towers Foundation has begun construction on a mortgage-free smart home in Oxford, Maine, for Army SGT Christina Gardner, who was catastrophically injured while serving abroad in 2006.  Gardner lost both legs below the knees, incurred a lumbar spinal cord injury and skull fractures resulting in a traumatic brain injury, and lost two fingers on her left hand. The custom-built smart home will be designed to meet SGT Gardner’s specific needs, enabling her to live as independently as possible. The build will take place over the next two weeks and will culminate in a home dedication ceremony on Saturday, June 19. The Gold Star Family Home Program, launched in September 2018, honors the legacy of those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. FORT BRAGG, N.C. - Under partly cloudy skies, a warm breeze and the Iron Mike statue appearing as if he was casting a watchful eye over the audience, five Fayetteville, North Carolina Gold Star Families were recognized by the Tunnel to Towers Foundation at the Airborne and Special Operations Museum, May 18.
The Families of Staff Sgt. Kyu H. Chay, 3rd Special Forces Group; Staff Sgt. Jacob Hess, 95th Civil Affairs Brigade; Sgt. 1st Class Shawn P. McCloskey, 7th Special Forces Group (7th Group was still at Fort Bragg at the time of his death); Sgt. 1st Class Keith Callahan, 82nd Airborne Division; and Chief Warrant Officer 3 Christopher Allgaier, 82nd Aviation Brigade, were presented with documents confirming the mortgages held on their homes were completely satisfied. ....
