Springfield, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR),  the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA), and the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) wish to thank nurses in Illinois in recognition of the start of National Nurses Week for their dedication, commitment and selfless service during the COVID-19 pandemic. There are currently more than 230,000 nurses who hold Illinois licenses.

Illinois Department of Public Health Announces College Vaccination Days to Encourage Students to Receive COVID-19 Vaccinations
Vaccinations available at state-supported mass vaccination sites for College and University Students Across Illinois
SPRINGFIELD – With young people driving the increase in COVID-19 cases in Illinois, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is announcing “College Vaccination Days” to encourage all community college and public and private university students across Illinois to get vaccinated at mass vaccination sites.  This weekend and next week state-supported mass vaccination sites across Illinois will have COVID-19 vaccination appointments available for college and university students.  IDPH is partnering with colleges and universities in Illinois to help them direct their students to state-supported sites. ....

State of Illinois Receives $124 Million from Federal Government to Expand COVID-19 Vaccination Efforts

The State of Illinois will receive an additional $124 million in funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to further expand its robust COVID-19 vaccination program, including more than $90 million for the state and $33 million for the city of Chicago.
Approximately 75% of the funding will be focused on underserved communities and those disproportionately affected by COVID-19 to help ensure individuals are equitably vaccinated. This funding will allow the state to further build-out existing equity efforts, including partnerships with Federally Qualified Health Centers and safety net hospitals, collaboration with African-American/Black and Latino places of worship, rural vaccination teams, and mass vaccination sites in communities hit hardest by the pandemic. ....
