Orange County opens ADA drive-thru lanes at the Disneyland Super POD site

Yesterday, March 8th, the Disneyland Vaccine Super Point-of-Dispensing (POD) site reopened as a drive-thru site with American with Disabilities Act (ADA) lanes to allow for individuals to receive in-car vaccinations.
“We’re grateful that our local disabilities rights advocates have engaged in conversations with us to help us improve our POD sites,” said Vice Chairman Doug Chaffee. “My office has met with the Dayle McIntosh Center and discussed many of the areas in which we could improve ADA-access, and I’m pleased that the County has swiftly responded to their requests.”
The Disneyland POD site was reconfigured from a walk-up to a drive-thru site to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities. Pilot program aims to quickly vaccinate vulnerable seniors

CalOptima seniors age 65 or older may receive the COVID-19 vaccine within the next few weeks through the COVID-19 Vaccine Equity Pilot Program, a joint effort between CalOptima and the Orange County Health Care Agency.
The COVID-19 Vaccine Equity Pilot Program, designed to improve direct access to vaccinations for CalOptima members who live in the hardest-hit communities by the pandemic, was first introduced by Supervisor Andrew Do and Supervisor Doug Chaffee and approved unanimously by the Orange County Board of Supervisors on January 26, 2021.
Yesterday, CalOptima’s Board of Directors approved an action to accept a direct allocation of COVID-19 vaccines from the Orange County Health Care Agency (HCA) on behalf of contracted health networks that will handle the vaccine administration to vulnerable CalOptima members who are 65 years or older. ....

Irvine’s Great Park Could Become Orange County’s Next Super Vaccination Site
Irvine city council will decide Jan. 26 whether to designate the Orange County Great Park as the region’s next major COVID-19 vaccination site.
If approved, the proposal will license the County of Orange to operate a super point of distribution (POD) at the park with the goal of vaccinating at least 20,000 people per day.
This will supplement the two sites already approved for operations in the county: Disneyland in Anaheim, and Soka University in Aliso Viejo. The Orange County Fair Grounds in Costa Mesa is said to have been tapped as a fourth site, though a spokesperson for the facility could not confirm the report Jan. 26. ....
