Schools to offer summer meals during June

MOULTRIE, Ga. âÂ The Colquitt County School Nutrition Department will offer the Seamless Summer Feeding Program to all children in Colquitt County 18 years of age and younger.
The feeding program will begin next week and continue through June 25.
Two meals per day will be offered, according to a press release from the school system. Breakfast will be served 7:30-8 a.m., and lunch will be served 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
The school system will offer two walk-on sites, Cox Elementary School at 1275 11th Ave. S.E. and C.A. Gray Junior High School, 812 11th Ave. N.W. ....

Schools, Libraries Offer Free Lunches During Summer |

Through a returning partnership with the California Summer Meals Coalition, several San Diego County school districts and city library branches are serving free healthy lunches during the summer for children 18 years old and under.
During the 2016-2017 academic year, over 10,000 students K-12 in San Diego County met the eligibility criteria for free meals based on household income, homelessness, foster placement and more, according to data by the California Department of Education.
For many students who fall into those categories, school lunches are essential to maintain proper nutrition, but when school is not in session, some no longer have those resources. ....

MINGO JUNCTION The Indian Creek Local Board of Education recognized one of its own for his efforts to ensure that no child goes hungry when district Food Service Director Eric White received a special distinction on Thursday.
Superintendent T.C. Chappelear surprised White with honors from the Coalition of Rural and Appalachian Schools, which touts school employees for going above and beyond the call of duty.
