SAN ANTONIO - A new bill has passed the Texas Senate making it possible for all high school seniors to graduate whether they passed the STAAR test or not!
Representative Diego Bernal’s House Bill 999 Passed in the Texas Senate Wednesday.
Because the COVID-19 pandemic has been really hard on students due to school closures, some high school students have lost up to four STAAR testing opportunities in Algebra I, English I, and Biology.
So this bill will temporarily expand the qualifications for Individual Graduation Committees (IGCs) - a review of a student s academic accomplishments - making them available to all seniors regardless of their performance on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR). ....
