RICHMOND, Va. A rally for justice was held Sunday in Shockoe Bottom in memory of two women killed in a double murder on Mother’s Day four years ago.
Twenty-six-year-old Sharayne Holland and her friend, 23-year-old Tanna Gardner, were shot and killed while driving on Interstate 95 in downtown Richmond on May 14, 2017.
The pair were with a group of friends celebrating Gardner s graduation from Virginia Union University. ....

The inequity between what her children have and what they deserve grows wider each year, as every Mother’s Day since 2017 marks the death of a parent they’ll never know.
Sharayne Holland’s younger child, now four, is old enough to express exasperation, and increasingly, the beginnings of painful dissatisfaction. He can only adore pictures of his mother and does not understand why she ceases to exist in flesh and blood.
“ I don’t want to keep kissing this picture, ” Pharaoh s grandparents recounted, as he protested to his sister, Zahara. “ I want to hug, and touch Mommy. ” ....
