All employees at the University of Kansas Health System will now make at least $15 an hour, according to a news release Friday from the Kansas City, Kan., medical center.
The decision to raise the minimum wage for employees was based on a comprehensive review of salary data, cost of living and other factors. It was also an effort to support front-line workers “and the critical role they play in providing care in our communities,” the release stated. The pay changes took effect on Feb. 7 and will be reflected in paychecks beginning on March 5. ....

Judge OKs reckless driving charge against Tyrone man | News, Sports, Jobs

HOLLIDAYSBURG A summary offense of reckless driving can be added to the traffic citations filed against a Tyrone man who allegedly engaged in a high-speed chase with a motorcyclist who crashed and died.
The reckless driving charge against Brad Confer of Tyrone is expected to be addressed at Magisterial District Judge Fred Miller’s office where Confer has two pending summary traffic citations in connection with the June 1, 2019, incident.
“In light of the judge’s ruling, the additional charge will be pursued,” Blair County District Attorney Pete Weeks said Monday. “But I’m not sure yet, procedurally, as to how that’s going to happen.” ....
