CACHE, Okla. (TNN) - On Wednesday, the CDC recommended the use of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine on kids between the ages of 12 and 15.
The Comanche County Health Department is already making a push to make that vaccine available to schools in southwest Oklahoma starting Monday.
Brandie Combs from the Comanche County Health Department said this population is more difficult to vaccinate because kids will need parental consent, but they’re trying to make it easier by planning the clinics either before or after school. ....

CACHE, Okla. (TNN) - President Biden’s signature on House Resolution 1319, also known as the American Rescue Plan Act, set the wheels in motion for schools across the country to receive a total of $122.8 billion for the 2023-2024 school year.
Cache Public Schools Superintendent, Chad Hance, says his district expects to receive about $2.2 million.
“You know our district spent a lot of money on upgrading our technology so we could do our virtual school and so on so we plan on kind of taking that money and putting it back into place and taking it to our other needs such as text books or professional development,” Hance said. ....

CACHE, Okla. (TNN) - Cache Public Schools FFA students and agriculture teachers are excited about a new water wall cooling system installed in their greenhouse.
When air from the outside comes through the cooling pads soaked in water, it provides a more humid environment for plants and vegetables to grow.
The FFA adviser Kelly Jenkins said it’s perfect for the Oklahoma weather.
“Without the cooling system, we’re basically dealing with the hot, dry Oklahoma air,” Jenkins said. “We do have fans that come through, but you’re just basically bringing in dry air in from outside, so having the cooling system’s providing the water and humidity level in the greenhouse is actually much more conducive to grow plants much quicker and more efficiently.” ....

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (TNN) - Standardized testing for Oklahoma’s schools will resume this year despite COVID 19 and distance learning for some students.
Unlike last year Oklahoma State Superintendent Joy Hofmeister confirmed test waivers would not be granted for students.
It comes after the Biden Administration’s announcement that states must resume standardize testing this Spring.
Because Covid-19 caused interruptions and set backs for students she says it’s vital to learn where they are academically after an unprecedented school year. ....
