Chief Health Health Officer Jeannette Young said there s still hope the lockdown could end at 4pm on Sunday.
The aim of the lockdown isn t to eradicate the cluster, she said, but keep the number of people infectious in the community down.
It doesn t matter (if) we ve had those cases because they re in quarantine, so it won t stop us lifting the restrictions on Sunday, she said.
So please, everyone just think of what you can do in the next few days so we can lift this and we can beat all their predictions about how long it takes to get such a large cluster under control. ....

Covid-19 in Australia: Delta outbreaks still growing in Queensland, NSW and Victoria

“I am still concerned though that we don’t know how this outbreak has happened, so we know the very first two cases that arrived into Queensland on the 29th of June, but I don’t know how it s got from either of those two people to the first family.
“We do need to continue testing throughout all of those 11 [local government areas] and throughout Queensland. It s really important so we can just make sure we don t have any other transmission events any other outbreaks happening.”
Young said on Monday she was expecting more cases to be identified, considering that some of the already confirmed cases were infectious in the community for days. One of Monday’s cases was in the community for six days before going into quarantine. ....

Covid-19 Queensland: How RBT-style checkpoints will monitor Brisbane lockdown rule-breakers

Booze bus-style police checkpoints will be set up across south-east Queensland to enforce the region s lockdown as the state s Covid-19 outbreak continues to grow.
Queensland Police said the checkpoints would appear randomly in Brisbane and the Gold Coast to catch anyone breaking strict stay-at-home orders.
The state recorded another 16 cases of the virus on Tuesday as 11 local government areas endure a snap seven-day lockdown to slow the spread of the highly-contagious Delta variant.
Residents in those LGAs can only go out if they have an essential reason and must not travel more than 10km for exercise.
