Two-alarm fire destroys Meredith Marina service building

February 03, 2021MEREDITH A two-alarm fire destroyed a service building and several boats at Meredith Marina, though no one was injured.
A call came into the Meredith Fire Department around 4:44 p.m. on Thursday about a building fire at 2 Bayshore Rd. at Meredith Marina.
Fire Chief Ken Jones said a few employees had just left the warehouse to go to the main office. Employees then saw smoke and fire coming up from the warehouse and called for emergency services.
Jones said the fire went to a first alarm after he went on the scene. After 13 minutes, a second alarm was called due to how much area was exposed and the cold weather. ....

CHARRED BUILDING HERE AT MEREDITH MARINA. WITNESSES SAY THEY HEARD AND FELT AN EXPLOSION. NATS OF FIRE OR SIRENS DAN :29- THERE WAS A LOUD EXPLOSION. SECONDS LATER THERE WERE FLAMES SHOOTING IN THE AIR. AS WE WATCHED THE FLAMES STARTED TO GO HIGHER AND HIGHER AND I COULDN T BELIEVE HOW HIGH THE FLAMES WERE SHOOTING. AND THEN WE HEARD ANOTHER EXPLOSION ;43 AMANDA :39-:47 POLICE CARS JUST STARTED RACING DOWN THE ROAD. THE NEXT THING WE KNEW WE COULD SEE BLACK SMOKE BILLOWING FROM THE BUILDINGS.
