Representative image CUTTACK: A petition filed in the Orissa high court has sought judicial intervention to ensure vaccine for senior citizens with ailments and those who are physically challenged and are unable to approach the vaccination centres. The petition, filed by Sohan Mishra and two others, has sought direction to provide them vaccine at home. The vacation bench of Chief Justice S Muralidhar and Justice B P Routray has fixed May 12 to hear the petition in the light of the Supreme Court order issued on April 30. The vacation bench fixed the date on Wednesday after assistant solicitor general of India, P K Parhi, stated that he will seek specific instructions from the Union of India to ensure availability of vaccines and the facility of vaccination to specific groups of people who are not in a position to approach the centres. ....

Accordingly, the HC has directed the Kendrapada SP to appear in person in virtual mode on that day to explain why appropriate steps have not been taken in the cases listed by him in his affidavit. Orissa high court CUTTACK: The Orissa high court has pulled up the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) on Monday for not considering the background of litigation while declining to grant interim relief to a casual employee of Prasar Bharati whose 27 years of service was terminated on the basis of instructions over telephone. While not granting interim stay on the order terminating the service of Smita Jena, CAT makes no reference to the long history of litigation concerning her services where she has been knocking at the doors of concerned authorities for regularization of her services in terms of the scheme floated for that purpose by Prasar Bharati, the HC observed. ....
