The Naperville Police Department is holding a meet-and-greet next week with Chief Robert Marshall and members of his senior staff.
The Chat with the Chief event is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. May 25 in the parking lot of Scott Elementary School, 500 Warwick Drive, according to a news release. The gathering will be moved into the school s gymnasium in the event of inclement weather.
 
Residents are encouraged to stop by any time during the two-hour window for an informal conversation with police leaders in a relaxed atmosphere. The event is typically hosted multiple times a year but has been on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the news release says. ....

Naperville saw an overall reduction in violent crimes last year, officials say, but the COVID-19 pandemic is likely to blame for a jump in reports of identity theft and calls related to domestic violence.
The Naperville Police Department on Monday released its 2020 crime figures, which Chief Robert Marshall said are used to develop future goals, address trends and enhance public education efforts. Law enforcement officers and community members faced a slew of unprecedented challenges last year, as evidenced by sections of the report, he said. ....
