Hopedale man charged with B&E into Ashland home, caught by police dog

ASHLAND – A Hopedale man broke into an Eliot Street home on Friday to try to evade arrest on several warrants and ended up barricading himself in a locked room, police said. Scott Bolton, 42, briefly escaped from the house, but was quickly caught by Ashland Police dog Ajax, who held the struggling man until his handler Sgt. Chris Alberini and other officers handcuffed him, police Chief Vincent Alfano said. “He struggled violently, he was hitting the officers and the dog,” the chief said. Around 3 p.m., a plain-clothed officer saw a possible domestic incident and saw Bolton, who he had been looking for. Bolton was wanted on seven different warrants.

Ashland Police, others, search for missing man

ASHLAND For a second day this week, several police officers and firefighters were at Ashland State Park searching for a missing man. Police Chief Vincent Alfano said Friday that the man is from another community and has been missing for about five days. He said evidence leads authorities to believe the man is somewhere in the park. “There is nothing the general public should be worried about,” said Alfano. “There’s no danger and there is no foul play suspected.” On Friday, police closed Spring Street between South Street and Olive Street due to the search. Friday’s effort has been mostly a water search, Alfano said. Several boats and dive teams from the Massachusetts State Police and Massachusetts Environmental Police, as well as the Ashland Fire Department and other agencies are taking part, he said.
