PM hints at holding talks with extremists - Newspaper


QUETTA: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday indicated initiating negotiations with disgruntled extremists who were putting up resistance in Balochistan.
“I am thinking of holding talks with disgruntled extremists who are offering resistance in Balochistan,” said Mr Khan while speaking at an MoU signing ceremony in the port city of Gwadar.
Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong and CPEC Authority Chairman Asim Saleem Bajwa signed the MoUs regarding a desalination plant and solar energy in the presence of the prime minister and Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani.
While referring to the disgruntled people, the premier said they might have been used by India or by others in the past or they had some ill-feeling, but they must have felt “now the situation has changed”. He said: “Whoever will think about Pakistan will think about Balochistan [first].” ....

GWADAR: Prime Minister Imran Khan Monday said he was considering speaking to the insurgents in Balochistan, as the situation in the province had changed and Pakistan was moving towards a better future.
The premier, addressing an event in Gwadar, said the insurgents might be upset with the state due to some past grievances or India might have used them to spread terror in Pakistan. “But now, the situation has changed,” he said.
Imran inaugurated Gwadar Free Zone, Expo Center, Agriculture Industrial Park, and three factories. He also witnessed the signing of various MoUs aimed at constructing a state-of-the-art hospital, airport, and vocational institute. ....

GWADAR: CPEC Authority Chairman Asim Saleem Bajwa on Monday said that the Gwadar Port and the Gwadar Free Zone would generate economic activities of around $10 billion per annum besides creating thousands of new jobs after becoming fully operational.
“Soon after completion of the Gwadar Free Zone, a lot of manufacturing and trading activities will start, cargoes will move, and transshipment activities will increase,” he said while talking to the journalists after reviewing the Gwadar Port and other projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. ....

Asim Bajwa says China to bring more investment under CPEC

LAHORE: CPEC Authority Chairman Asim Saleem Bajwa on Tuesday said that China would bring more investment in the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
He said investment of around US $13 billion had already been made in the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) under the mega project while an additional investment of $12 billion was in the pipeline. He made these remarks during his visit to a textile mill here established by the Chinese investors.
The chairman expressed satisfaction over the establishment of a factory of international standard by the challenge group. Asim Bajwa said the visa date was also being extended for the Chinese investors as the period of visas was being increased from three months to two years. ....
