DVIDS - News - 402nd improves the lives of Soldiers in Alaska throughout 2020

Fort Wainwright, ALASKA Soldiers and families experienced a boost in the quality of life initiatives offered throughout the Army footprint in Alaska in 2020. While improvements have been made, the work remains ongoing.
“Even though we made significant improvements to the training, dining and transportation needs of Soldiers here in Alaska, we are still engaged and working closely with the garrison to ensure their needs continue to be met,” said Lt. Col. L. Pily Restrepo, commander of the 402nd Army Field Support Battalion-Alaska.
The changes are a result of a cross-functional Quality of Life Task Force led by the Army Material Command in direct response to an epidemiological consultation, also known as an EPICON, and recommendations from a USARAK Suicide Prevention Task Force after five suicide deaths between May 2018 and April 2019. ....

DVIDS - News - Contracting Soldiers support Army's largest exercise in 25 years


JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas (Feb. 19, 2020) Mission and Installation Contracting Command Soldiers are helping lay the acquisition groundwork to ensure essential services and supplies are in place as the Army prepares for its largest European exercise in 25 years.
Contracting Soldiers from the 901st Contracting Battalion at Fort Hood, Texas, and 904th CBN at Fort Stewart, Georgia, have been planning for and begin deploying this week to integrate to area operations of the 409th Contracting Support Brigade at Sembach Kaserne, Germany, in support of Defender-Europe 20.
Defender-Europe is a U.S. Army Europe-led, joint, multinational training exercise demonstrating the deployment of a division-size combat force from the United States to Europe. Approximately 37,000 U.S., allied and partner nation service members are expected to participate, including about 20,000 Soldiers deploying from the United States, supporting NATO objectives to build r ....

DVIDS - News - Wide range of topics discussed at ASC virtual town hall

ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. – More than 400 employees from around the U.S. Army Sustainment Command went online to participate in a virtual ASC town hall held Dec.15.
Maj. Gen. Daniel Mitchell, commanding general of ASC, led the town hall from a conference room located in the command’s headquarters at Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois. ASC team members were able to participate in the town hall via Microsoft Teams, and could ask questions via email.
A wide range of topics were discussed at the town hall, including ASC’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, and its role in supporting ongoing COVID vaccine trials; the command’s support to Army modernization; improvements to the shipment of household goods for Soldiers and families; and Project Inclusion, a command- and Army-wide effort to promote equity, diversity and inclusion at all locations and among all ranks, grades and levels. ....
