Unsure of what to do with unused or expired prescription drugs, residents in the Mid-Ohio Valley can drop them off at various locations as part of the National Take-Back Day program on Saturday.
The day aims to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs while also educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications.
Washington County Deputy Sheriff Duane Painter said residents can bring anything from insulin needles, pills and medication patches. Liquid medications will not be accepted and COVID protocols must be used at the locations.
Materials must be provided in a bag, but Painter said volunteers will bag the items if residents are unable to provide one. ....

Occupation: Power Plant Mechanic 
Education/experience: Associate’s degree in Industrial Maintenance and Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Management. Been in power plants since 2015 after completing my associates at TSTC in Waco. Before that I was in the US Air Force in Security Forces, did one tour in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

QUESTION: Why are you running for office? 
ANSWER: I am running cause the people of my ward need their voices to be heard. A lot of the people in my ward are not worried about what happens downtown. They are worried about their taxes going up and no improvements around the ward. They don’t see anything getting fixed or even patched up. ....

Wood County says Naik companies delinquent with fire fees | News, Sports, Jobs

PARKERSBURG The owners of companies involved in the 2017 IEI Plastics fire are at the top of a list of companies that have not kept up with payments of the Wood County Fire Fee.
On Thursday, the Wood County Commission released a list of the Top 10 Highest Unpaid Fire Fees from 2016 to 2020.
The county passed the fee to help local volunteer fire departments with funding for new equipment, pay bills and other related expenses.
In the top two spots were Surnaik Holdings of WV LLC and Evergreen Holdings LLC with $23,742.90 and $9,356.04 owed respectively from each.
Both companies, with a shared address in Maryland, are owned by the Naik family who owned the former Ames plant in Parkersburg, called IEI (Intercontinental Export Import), where a large scale fire occurred in late 2017 which burned for a week and required the efforts of almost 40 area fire departments to put out. At the time, the facility was used to store various materials ....
