Annual appeal for Jennifer Kane fund honors 9/11 victim from Plymouth

PLYMOUTH – Nearly 20 years have passed since Jennifer Kane headed off to work at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.
And while the West Plymouth woman’s family and friends continue to mourn the loss of the vibrant young accountant, they have also channeled their grief into good.
Shortly after losing their daughter in the terrorist attacks, the Kane family established a charitable foundation to fund causes in Jen’s memory.
To date, the Jennifer Lynn Kane Scholarship and Charitable Trust has donated more than $1 million to initiatives that reflect Jen’s patriotism and compassion.
The work continues with this year’s appeal to help four familiar causes – Homes for Our Troops, School on Wheels of Massachusetts, the Old Colony YMCA’s Camp Clark, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Tabor girls break relay record

The Tabor Academy girls 4x100 meter relay broke a longstanding school record last weekend.
The boys and girls teams hosted Thayer Academy at home over the weekend, and the girls relay ran a record time of 51.09 seconds.
The relay team was made up exclusively of underclassmen. Cate Parks of Marion, Ayla Sahin of Barrington, RI and Sarah Adams of Mattapoisett are all freshmen, and Ava Lomberto of Franklin is a sophomore.
Tabor’s previous record, set in 1995, was 52.29 seconds.
Also highlighting the meets were senior Sam Hazzard of Dartmouth’s throws of 49’3” in the shotput and 116’7” in the discus.

Over the weekend, Notre Dame made a big move to position itself favorably with Braintree (Mass.) Thayer Academy offensive tackle
Samson Okunlola by extending an offer to the 2023 blocker.
Okunlola reports that he is now 295 pounds, and the 6-6 offensive tackle has put in a lot of work to reshape his body after previously being listed over 320 pounds. We saw him at the recent Under Armour Camp in Columbus and Okunlola's reshaped body was impressive, and he was one of the best players in attendance at the camp.

The USC Trojans have five players verbally committed for the 2022 class, but they aren't slowing down just yet.
Clay Helton and his staff continue to hit it hard on the recruiting front, offering several elite 22-23 prospects from schools all around the country.

Justin Williams. Williams is 6-foot, 200-pounds from East Paulding High School in Dallas, Georgia. The tailback prospect took to twitter to announce the news citing,
"WOW! Blessed to say I have received a(n) offer from the University of Southern California !"

It’s Jasiah’s four-month exam, and because Crystal has missed several appointments, physician Eileen Costello ’80, chief of ambulatory pediatrics at Boston Medical Center (BMC), has come to her. Crystal is part of SOFAR (Supporting Our Families through Addiction and Recovery), a multidisciplinary treatment program Costello and her team created in 2017 to pick up where intensive ob-gyn care ends. “For the vast majority of our moms,” she says, “getting pregnant was a catalyst for recovery, so when we meet them, most are in their first year, which is an extremely high-risk time for relapse.”

Okunlola excited about his recent Florida Gators offer

This week has been a busy one for the Florida Gators coaching staff and recruiting staff as a lot of offers have been given out to prospects in several different classes.
2023 Offensive lineman Samson Okunlola (6-5, 320, Brockton, MA. Thayer Academy) picked up an offer from the Gators earlier this week after he talked to one of Florida’s coaches.
“John Hevesy, the offensive line coach,” Okunlola said on the coach who offered him from Florida. “He said that he liked my game and we talked for a little bit about myself.”
Okunlola is grateful for all of the offers he picks up and he’s now looking forward to learning more about the Gators program.
