The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual banquet tonight with a full house at the Brownwood Coliseum. The audience heard remarks from outgoing Chamber President Cory Howard, of Bruner Auto Group, and incoming President Dustin Larremore, of Farmers Insurance. Larremore announced the hiring of a new Executive Director, Nathan Smith, who will begin his duties at the Chamber on July 14.
The highlight of the banquet every year is the announcing of annual awards. They are as follows:
Ambassador of the Year
This award goes to the leading member of the Chamber Ambassadors group. This year’s award went to Vikki Firth. She has spent countless hours helping Chamber functions such as the Business Expo, Annual Banquet, Corks and Caps, Christmas Under the Stars, Professional Women’s Summit, monthly luncheons, and ribbon cuttings.

CONVOY A Van Wert man has been chosen as Crestview High School’s next Athletic Administrator.
Austin Fleming will take over for Matt Perkins, effective August 1. He was given a two-year contract during Monday night’s monthly meeting of the Crestview Local Board of Education.
Fleming, a 2011 graduate of Van Wert High School, currently serves as assistant director of admissions and assistant athletic director of athletic recruiting at Defiance College.
Also Monday, Crestview High School Principal Dave Bowen gave an update on graduation, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, May 29, in the high school gymnasium.
Latch Key hosts annual Hamburger Supper fund-raiser

The Pearl Griffin Memorial Latch Key Program hosted its annual Hamburger Supper in April. After having to cancel last year due to COVID-19, this year s supper was a huge success as Brownwood came out in full force to support this local organization.
Latch Key provides after-school childcare services to families in the Brownwood ISD with parents who are working or going to school during after-school hours and qualify financially. Latch Key provide an afternoon snack, helps with homework and has fun activities provided for the students until parents pick them up after work.
