Based on a true story, this gripping historical drama reimagines the events of the 1939 excavation of a wooden ship and cemeteries from the Dark Ages.
As World War II looms in England, a wealthy widow (Carey Mulligan) retains the services of an amateur archaeologist (Ralph Fiennes) to excavate the earthen mounds on her estate. When they make an extremely important historical discovery, it attracts the attention of a Cambridge University archaeologist and his colleagues, who seize the site.
