Planners OK Juniata building project | News, Sports, Jobs

Blair County Planning Commission members gave a positive review Thursday on plans for construction of a mixed-use building in Juniata.
Dazzling Realty LLC plans to construct a 9,225-square-foot, two-story building at North Fourth Avenue and North Sixth Street, which will include commercial space on the first floor and apartments on the second floor.
A paved parking lot, landscaping and sidewalks also are proposed in the plan.
The parking lot will contain 13 spaces, including a single Americans with Disabilities Act accessible space. While the proposed amount of parking spaces does not seem excessive, the developer has not included any calculations showing that the proposed amount of parking will meet Altoona’s parking requirements. ....

State awards tax credits to 3 local businesses | News, Sports, Jobs

Pennsylvania has awarded three major business and building expansion projects in Blair County with more than $950,000 in State Enterprise Zone and Special Priority Program tax credits.
The EZP program provides state tax credits to businesses or industries investing in or making physical improvements to properties located within designated enterprise zones. The SPP program supports specific priorities of community economic development: disaster or economic recovery, integrating weatherization and housing rehab, mortgage foreclosure prevention, blight elimination, diversity issues, rural issues and affordable housing.
Altoona Blair County Development Corp. provided technical assistance and support for the following projects:
