Lansing Meadows PDA reverts back to square one

On March 1, the Village of Lansing Board of Trustees held public hearings on several local laws. Approximately ten community members were in attendance.
There was supposed to be a public hearing on an amendment to change the lot dimensions and protect the greenspace at the Lansing Meadows project Planned Development Area (PDA). The subject of increasing the lot size and adding subdivisions has been a source of controversy over the past few months. Trustee Ronny Hardaway has continually expressed a desire for more greenspace, as originally planned in the PDA.
Discussion on this topic was delayed at two previous meetings in January because project developer Eric Goetzmann was unable to attend in-person. It was decided at a trustee meeting on Feb. 1 that a public hearing would be held at the March 1 meeting. However, in a letter sent to the Board of Trustees, prior to the March 1 meeting, Goetzmann asked to withdraw his request to modify the district regulations.  ....

The Boston Planning and Development Agency (“BPDA”) has approved an amendment to the Boston Zoning Code that would require developers of large residential projects to create inclusive housing opportunities. Developed in consultation with the City Council and endorsed unanimously by the Council prior to the BPDA’s vote, the zoning amendment will be considered by the Boston Zoning Commission in January, and is expected to be signed by Mayor Walsh.
Once enacted, the zoning amendment will require proponents of residential projects and mixed-use projects with residential components that are subject to Large Project Review under Article 80B of the Boston Zoning Code, as well as those seeking Planned Development Area (“PDA”) approval under Article 80C of the Code, to include a new Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing Component (“AFFH Component”) in the BPDA’s development impact review process.  ....

Community members split on proposed Lansing Meadow changes

On Dec. 7, The Village of Lansing Board of Trustees held a public hearing on the proposed changes to the Lansing Meadows project Planned Development Area (PDA). The purpose of the meeting was to vote on changing the PDA to allow for a smaller lot size and allow zero clearance between lot lines.
There were mixed reactions on the proposed changes among both community and board members. Ultimately, a final decision was postponed to the next meeting on Dec. 21, in order to include a vote on the number of subdivisions that would be allowed on the property. Currently, 18 units are permitted but Lansing Meadows developer Eric Goetzman has been pushing for an increased subdivision of 30 units at previous meetings.  ....
