Man Dies After Grave He Was Digging Collapses On Him | South Carolina Radio Network

Local police detectives are investigating the death of a cemetery digger who was killed while working in a grave in Mount Sinai Thursday (February 25) morning.
Rodwin Allicock, 42, of Coram, was working at the bottom of a grave at Washington Memorial Park on Canal Road that was more than 7 feet deep when the grave collapsed at approximately 8:30 a.m., according to a Suffolk County Police Department news release.
Allicock s co-workers attempted to dig him out, but were unsuccessful. The 42-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Center. ....

Philadelphia man begins shoveling sidwalks to raise money for cancer charity, Team I hate Cancer


PHILADELPHIA CJ Walsh is on a mission shoveling sidewalks around his Fitler Square neighborhood to raise money for his charity, Team I Hate Cancer.
He s quite the shoveler on a selfless mission. Walsh has raised more than $400 this winter for his foundation. He co-founded Team I Hate Cancer with his brother in 2006.
We fund programs that help families facing cancer diagnosis, so that s mental health therapy, we ve done wigs, Walsh said.
Walsh s shoveling non-stop to help more families in need. Last summer he and his brother raised $50,000 biking from Philadelphia to Maine to raise money for national cancer organizations like the Flatwater Foundation. Team I Hate Cancer is focused on being able to fundraise for various national organizations. One year the non-profit paid for therapy for families for an entire year. For Walsh the mission is personal. ....

Now that it actually feels like winter in Toronto, snow and all, residents may more than ever require the help of LocalStudent, a new business that aims to help people get small jobs done around the house while also employing students who are out of work at the moment.
The venture is the brainchild of Ryerson University undergrad Alex Ryzer, who found that typical student jobs are in desperate need of an upgrade.
Traditional student jobs have three main problem: they offer low pay, inflexible hours, and micromanagement. These jobs have been pretty much unchanged for the last 50 years, and are inconvenient for students with a busy school schedule, Ryzer told blogTO. ....

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Rodney Smith Jr. is known across the country as the man who mows lawns for those in need.
He’s now helping those impacted by winter storms, and encouraging others to serve.
“It’s like a whole army of volunteers. Kids are getting out there and doing something positive. We’re just trying to encourage kids to learn how to give back. Right now, I think we’re on that path. We have 1,400 kids out there making a difference n their community,” said Smith. ....
